Populations of yelloweye rockfish and cowcod, which were declared overfished in 2002 and 2000 respectively, are increasing faster than anticipated and the cowcod population was declared rebuilt based on the 2019 stock assessment.</p><p style="background-color: white; box-sizing: inherit; color: #333333; font-family: "Source Sans Pro", sans-serif; font-size: 18px; margin: 0.8em 0px;">“The good news for 2021 is groundfish populations are rebounding,” said CDFW Senior Environmental Scientist Caroline McKnight. “Of the eight stocks that were declared overfished in the early 2000s, all but one, yelloweye rockfish, has been declared rebuilt today. The improved status of these species allows fishery managers to recommend management measures that provide additional fishing opportunity, including access to deeper depths that have been off limits to anglers for more than a decade.”</p><p style="background-color: white; box-sizing: inherit; color: #333333; font-family: "Source Sans Pro", sans-serif; font-size: 18px; margin: 0.8em 0px;">The implementation of a <a href="http://nrm.dfg.ca.gov/FileHandler.ashx?DocumentID=185548&inline" style="background-color: transparent; box-sizing: inherit; color: #046b99; font-weight: 700; overflow-wrap: break-word; text-decoration-line: none; transition: all 0.3s ease 0s; word-break: break-word;">new five-fish sub-bag limit for vermilion rockfish</a> within the 10-fish RCG complex daily bag limit may come as a surprise to some anglers. <br />
He caught several small scorpion fish, a nice sized Surf Perch, and some Dungeness crab. Unfortunately the Dungeness were to small to keep. But the real kicker was that he caught an octopus there. I had never seen any there before and thought it was a cool catch, he later released it. <br />

I killed my first pig here as an apprentice hunter in 2007. The drawing closes in less than two weeks. <br />
<br />
I would highly recommend that all apply because it is a great place to hunt. It is located in the delta and you do hunt a wetland area. There are lots of pigs here. The best way to hunt them is to push through the reeds and flush the pigs out. Or at least this is how I did it in the past and it worked well for me. <br />
<br />
There are 7 weekend hunts available, with the first being for junior hunters and the last 6 for regular hunters. It is shotgun/archery only. With a limit of three hunters per weekend.<br />

I had not been to the pier in a while and it was nice to see the improvements the city has made to the pier. They fixed all of the lights and replaced them with led's so the length of the pier is no well illuminated. There are also no more of the rusty metal plates on the walkway.<br />
<br />
As for the fishing, it seems Dungeness season is off to a slow start. Between my brother and I we did not catch a single crab using 3 fishing poles with snares and one crab cage. There were other people who caught some, but no one had more than 2 or three keepers, however most people did not have any keepers. There was one gentleman there who caught 2 small soles and seemed to have been catching them all day.<br />
<br />
Hopefully crabbing will be better next time I go. But it is nice to see that they have made some nice improvements to the pier.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2380719344757929019.post-62152754945994697282014-09-29T14:16:00.001-07:002014-11-11T01:03:35.716-08:00Gray Lodge Wildlife Area 9/19-9/21 2014I went deer hunting at Gray Lodge wildlife area last weekend (first time ever going there). I was repeatedly pleasantly surprised by how nice the whole place was. There were flush toilets, the roads were very well maintained, and in the main parking lot there was even a microwave you could use.<br />
<br />
This place is very well managed. I have never seen so much wildlife in one place. Species I saw included, grouse, pheasant, quail, turkey, deer, red tailed hawks, an owl, a turtle, frogs, bass, egrets, blue herons, crayfish, a kingsnake (<a href="http://youtu.be/uhgiGeZrJr4">see video here</a>) and many other brids<br />
<br />
If I were to go deer hunting there again, I would go in a group of at least two, 3-4 would likely be best. This way when flushing out the deer in the reeds you would be more likely to get one. This is really the only good way to deer hunt there. Several hunters did bring tree stands for the few trees which can support one, however they were not used much. Bikes are allowed there so I would recommend bringing one, this way you can cover much more ground.<br />
<br />
I saw 11 deer, 10 of which were legal but could not get a good shot at one. <br />
I also did some bass fishing - <a href="http://youtu.be/-Iax8dG-NyA">to see the youtube video click here </a><br />
<br />
Do Not Forget Mosquito Spray/Repellent<br />

A colleague from my work recommended we go there after work. Supposedly there are carp, catfish, bass, bluegill and trout. According to the DFG they stock it with trout and catfish. We did see numerous large fish jumping, but I am not sure if they were bass or trout. There are no restrooms there so keep that in mind if you decide to go there. We tried hotdog, bread, powerbait, and chicken liver as bait and only got a few nibbles on the hotdog and chicken liver I put in a crawfish trap to see what sort of fish were in there, I did manage to catch three crayfish and one small bluegill, as well as one minnow which was so small I was unable to identify it. I will definitely come back another time and will bring worms with me because I feel that would be the best bait there. I am sure there are some large fish 10+ pounds in there.

We wanted to practice >100 yard shots, which our local range is unable to provide for us. First off, there are no trees here, so make sure if you decide to go target shooting to bring a canopy or tarp to provide shade, especially this time of year, today it was 104 out there. As far as hunting, I am sure there are pigs there, when there is actually water. I saw a lot of varmint signs, but only saw one rabbit. We were going to go the northern half of Panoche hills, but the road leading into that part was locked because The Panoche and Tumey Hills are now under Fire Season Vehicle Restrictions. No motorized access is allowed from April 15 to the beginning of upland game bird season. So on highway 5 there is actually a road that goes right off into the park which is where we ended up going. There were several other groups there shooting as well. For BLM land this is actually some of the cleanest, so please remember to pick up your casings and targets. There are no bathrooms and no water so make sure to bring water and toilet paper if you head up there. It is also a great area to go fossil hunting so it could be a great trip for the family, especially during the wetter months.

We were about 1/2 way down the jetty. We caught the Cabezon on some squid with 30 pound line and 12 pound leader. The crab trap I was using I initially threw out into the ocean but after it got stuck and I had to go for a swim to get it, I decided I would throw the crab trap into the harbor, not expecting much, but it out fished it compared to the ocean side. we also forgot that we had to leave there by sunset so when we got back to our car there was a sheriff waiting for us, so if you go there remember to leave before sunset.

I did manage to catch numerous ghost shrimp, but did not manage to catch any surf perch on the beginning of the jetty, where they are normally caught, there was another group there with caught 10 though. SO later we decided to move down the jetty in the hope of catching some rockfish or lingcod. We did manage to catch 2 small sculpin and one nice sized rockfish. One of the sculpin had a parasite on it, I this is the 2nd time I have seen this now on the 4 sculpin I have caught there.

Some people there also limited out on lingcod. There was also a huge run of surf perch. One guy managed to fill an entire bucket with them. for the surf perch they were using live ghost shrimp out of the harbor that they had caught with their shrimp guns, which are very similar to clam guns. I did not know that there was this great free resource of bait there. <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhp_i_rYUxI2wPisXLhaYTw3nHLNqBs5VtXvBcxCzDbkj9OSc7b3SlIvF-Voo4Hut3VLbxMMRkDl0zkcUGl58ihewsjkQacF62dfgxDjFHr70uDU_ZAs6G4zw5emIU5g-mQW8AmdHZ7nHk/s1600/CAM00270.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhp_i_rYUxI2wPisXLhaYTw3nHLNqBs5VtXvBcxCzDbkj9OSc7b3SlIvF-Voo4Hut3VLbxMMRkDl0zkcUGl58ihewsjkQacF62dfgxDjFHr70uDU_ZAs6G4zw5emIU5g-mQW8AmdHZ7nHk/s320/CAM00270.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjuVZD8TW5qfpiMJzaNrFl6waeoaad2xLxepmgaCAbPJrZovXjhX0lryZAAZK-7ZI4btfuiwncbczFGtP5iXAnRHmmUS-5Nf4AAvXZ7xH-vtGPvp5jtzWLqhpwvr77Nd9ZPngL7ZHR8iK4/s1600/CAM00271.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjuVZD8TW5qfpiMJzaNrFl6waeoaad2xLxepmgaCAbPJrZovXjhX0lryZAAZK-7ZI4btfuiwncbczFGtP5iXAnRHmmUS-5Nf4AAvXZ7xH-vtGPvp5jtzWLqhpwvr77Nd9ZPngL7ZHR8iK4/s320/CAM00271.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi4RjC195k_yYM9iG0ZACbtp9Dm7s_UBHcbNckJpNWhl713hhonUDjDGn-yVQHnCCkWc-wuZ5gyxkAuiIUtbvM8TfMWSeBEmdVvnO-AVJ_a7-YW6I8JHlAWGFLxLXUeiMowyVCyb0Iku9Y/s1600/CAM00269.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi4RjC195k_yYM9iG0ZACbtp9Dm7s_UBHcbNckJpNWhl713hhonUDjDGn-yVQHnCCkWc-wuZ5gyxkAuiIUtbvM8TfMWSeBEmdVvnO-AVJ_a7-YW6I8JHlAWGFLxLXUeiMowyVCyb0Iku9Y/s320/CAM00269.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgSyCSkhcmBRdXtvGrIXuJbGuJuV4smdXdOePOAidpeiTa_kQBux14gwRawgYTfVIG8nhovBEhCJuqtnoC3B1lhCj0M5tPxu4xO6AehkJLPDDGZReVacFzj-zCq4SxeIR9tbjq8hHFmwJg/s1600/IMG_9471.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgSyCSkhcmBRdXtvGrIXuJbGuJuV4smdXdOePOAidpeiTa_kQBux14gwRawgYTfVIG8nhovBEhCJuqtnoC3B1lhCj0M5tPxu4xO6AehkJLPDDGZReVacFzj-zCq4SxeIR9tbjq8hHFmwJg/s320/IMG_9471.JPG" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEguvmSqL8plMz8c3NXTuwnM1v8-LbXKP-Mz4SeVtuuqu3x_UGtUz0vIdC5xA3PbECbT7QpDNviS06SU84mNJSZvMNh9Lg-bmL1MD57O8eyPPAR4XCTqmjvPLu_YyG-VQGHpJgUMnIS0irI/s1600/IMG_9472.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEguvmSqL8plMz8c3NXTuwnM1v8-LbXKP-Mz4SeVtuuqu3x_UGtUz0vIdC5xA3PbECbT7QpDNviS06SU84mNJSZvMNh9Lg-bmL1MD57O8eyPPAR4XCTqmjvPLu_YyG-VQGHpJgUMnIS0irI/s320/IMG_9472.JPG" /></a></div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2380719344757929019.post-39383635230700620912014-06-04T16:21:00.001-07:002014-09-29T14:23:53.740-07:00Started making my own crab snaresI recently decided to begin making my own crab snares. I was tired of paying 7$ a piece and loosing them all the time. I tested one out and it did very well. It is made of a smaller diameter mesh than the ones I purchase to help keep more bait in the snare. I will continue to experiment with different shapes/weights and may start to mold lead into the bottom of the snare. Here is my first crab I caught on my own snare. (It also pinched me so bad I started to bleed, this was a first for me) <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgcLhjk2FLBrKTR5GkTVi_AhpwmVthZ9XyGA6-FO4GnyMqQ1lIMo0uhLe6Ftf2wWXlFYq6g2BJUV2RYt95kgiBYrjeufdmxMz6mEGUYDArd7yu9VeHLBuK09XtJEGID64tNQFCwKgBJbwI/s1600/CAM00262.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgcLhjk2FLBrKTR5GkTVi_AhpwmVthZ9XyGA6-FO4GnyMqQ1lIMo0uhLe6Ftf2wWXlFYq6g2BJUV2RYt95kgiBYrjeufdmxMz6mEGUYDArd7yu9VeHLBuK09XtJEGID64tNQFCwKgBJbwI/s320/CAM00262.jpg" /></a></div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0Pacifica Municipal Pier, CA, USA37.633573 -122.4960833999999737.630427999999995 -122.50112589999998 37.636718 -122.49104089999997tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2380719344757929019.post-6696307194954596632014-06-04T16:15:00.001-07:002014-09-29T14:22:50.102-07:00Pacifica Pier Fishing report 6-03-2014Today Dungeness fishing was pretty good, especially compared to the last two weeks. I was fishing for striper for about 7 hours today and did not catch one. There was a guy who did catch a nice sized one next to me on a sandcrab and 10 lb line. This really tested his gear because the wind brought in large clumps of seaweed right next to the shore. The wind had also blown some rather large jelly fish near the beach as well. It was also a slow day for perch, as I only saw one shiner get pulled out. A picture of his catch is below. <br />

I am not sure why its been closed like all week. So I decided to just fish from the beach. I was really quite surprised to find so many people fishing from the beach. They were all using lures and fishing for striper. They were catching some pretty big striped bass there. Unfortunately I only brought my crabbing gear with me and some hooks, but no lures. So I used one pole with a weight and hook with a chuck of squid as bait but didn't catch anything. There were some people that did "limit out" with their two stripers. After the sun went down I threw in a crab snare from the shore so that I could catch some crab, after about 10 minutes I pulled in my line with a Dungeness that was just a little too small, so I threw him back satisfied that I had caught at least one thing so I went home. <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhEoeGK_Gv7PMGSrwlg3B6NeNkWLsUA9MNW45wbKar2G6pS4moLdrn_N49AnlPG4X6DT4l4VxU0Qp3Fg4gMRCtN-mO-DHlxOdqcxtcpHNeTxC7XPOdE8LimKET0gQ34UP_Sgn4q0aLr3Ag/s1600/CAM00250.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhEoeGK_Gv7PMGSrwlg3B6NeNkWLsUA9MNW45wbKar2G6pS4moLdrn_N49AnlPG4X6DT4l4VxU0Qp3Fg4gMRCtN-mO-DHlxOdqcxtcpHNeTxC7XPOdE8LimKET0gQ34UP_Sgn4q0aLr3Ag/s320/CAM00250.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiXIahOXpQIn3_bRPFbEdE1n6Uf_P1TPayh8HWOwuYKdVtqwbqm8nhB-LqCzoLKtkjdfWp2ilNRtkdElJp7iRaUtrV2EeWk8qcQgteUOggptUvwh157P0Au8ffMzKizVYUng73zQKZrMkg/s1600/CAM00251.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiXIahOXpQIn3_bRPFbEdE1n6Uf_P1TPayh8HWOwuYKdVtqwbqm8nhB-LqCzoLKtkjdfWp2ilNRtkdElJp7iRaUtrV2EeWk8qcQgteUOggptUvwh157P0Au8ffMzKizVYUng73zQKZrMkg/s320/CAM00251.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhjpo741mL2UaiENVVajGUTJkNkhFc9McHjhaIQkIG0Lmyl1xxxFqbVVrMI2nJGORdZHU_ITHSi-B3m8VHqBrUUatv7Xki-Jhg-mfb6rAtScAGtR5KslII6b4H5SC6P1Uum4m_mwpus6SU/s1600/CAM00249.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhjpo741mL2UaiENVVajGUTJkNkhFc9McHjhaIQkIG0Lmyl1xxxFqbVVrMI2nJGORdZHU_ITHSi-B3m8VHqBrUUatv7Xki-Jhg-mfb6rAtScAGtR5KslII6b4H5SC6P1Uum4m_mwpus6SU/s320/CAM00249.jpg" /></a></div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0Pacific Municipal Pier, Pacifica, CA 94044, USA37.6333851 -122.4945840000000337.6302416 -122.49962650000003 37.6365286 -122.48954150000003tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2380719344757929019.post-41688950644267826112014-05-14T01:01:00.001-07:002014-09-29T14:24:24.878-07:00Pillar Point Harbor in Half Moon Bay 05/14/14I went to go to the Pacifica Pier today, but it was closed. A while back (January, I believe)when I went fishing on the pier, there was a team of engineers doing inspections and I spoke with them and they said the pier was pretty much ready to come down and that they would be doing some renovations on it. But today the pier was only closed, and I didn't see anyone there doing any work on it. I thought this was strange. Anyway I decided to move to Pillar Point, its only an extra 15 minute drive for me and there is usually better fishing there. Upon my arrival, when I asked the others they said they hadn't caught any fish, which is unusual for Pillar Point. I ended up catching 8 Rock Crabs, no Dungeness crabs, and towards the evening I did manage to catch two skulpin. There where also two guys there who were fishing for Monkey faced eel, but they said they only got two, which they described more as noodles than eels. Here a few reminders about rock crabs (b) All crabs of the Cancer genus except Dungeness crabs, but including: yellow crabs, rock crabs, red crabs and slender crabs: (1) Open season: All year. (2) Limit: Thirty-five. (3) Minimum size: Four inches measured by the shortest distance through the body, from edge of shell to edge of shell at the widest part, except there is no minimum size in Fish and Game Districts 8 and 9. (c) All crabs of the genus Cancer, including Dungeness crabs, yellow crabs, rock crabs, red crabs and slender crabs, may be brought to the surface of the water for measuring, but no undersize crabs may be placed in any type of receiver, kept on the person or retained in any person’s possession or under his direct control; all crabs shall be measured immediately and any undersize crabs shall be released immediately into the water. <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgWtxGQlaOfofzhd4w7_BKQL0V0K132OHoc-kSqf0ucYiILLyJbSP2c_ccxgISo1S9EsIWaFmedjmg0SOzUMux2nNzmPgWdh6z21YE08nLx_Srwkqm7hBazjL6YeuKtnTjKj-T7HebSbJo/s1600/CAM00241.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgWtxGQlaOfofzhd4w7_BKQL0V0K132OHoc-kSqf0ucYiILLyJbSP2c_ccxgISo1S9EsIWaFmedjmg0SOzUMux2nNzmPgWdh6z21YE08nLx_Srwkqm7hBazjL6YeuKtnTjKj-T7HebSbJo/s320/CAM00241.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhFpNNwjwy5bVWxfB5bjGaweh410HErtt77MgmmDaA1yLjYMZtrRG4ayW_6CioRBaBOL-_aRQR806PHB1vlTZ7b0ECggMsSmRRRD6qoTEo2cHH0wkvj0hY-nuMukq0RroCHzR06tOAIcXw/s1600/CAM00246.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhFpNNwjwy5bVWxfB5bjGaweh410HErtt77MgmmDaA1yLjYMZtrRG4ayW_6CioRBaBOL-_aRQR806PHB1vlTZ7b0ECggMsSmRRRD6qoTEo2cHH0wkvj0hY-nuMukq0RroCHzR06tOAIcXw/s320/CAM00246.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhlywiCA26q1bS0rNnX9girK_kYjidD3SixERGrUCWQSYl8r6T6zRQMvImL-bcIddQYnhgwUM9GBdUDII6EMDSLFLw4qlWP-IADRGVcPDPhAQ4hLfozKkPn-5PUfBWzlhTz26YKTaLii7A/s1600/CAM00247.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhlywiCA26q1bS0rNnX9girK_kYjidD3SixERGrUCWQSYl8r6T6zRQMvImL-bcIddQYnhgwUM9GBdUDII6EMDSLFLw4qlWP-IADRGVcPDPhAQ4hLfozKkPn-5PUfBWzlhTz26YKTaLii7A/s320/CAM00247.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjzWuR03fd65ga2-p5OyLIFbiJ8u8dfwSGDLzbywsjW_pgo8794lgXWPfAoowGhBxSpRy0sWrJzHAcH__j1B3ia0irE-XXxr2R8-nZjBgcl_ApBVqpc5w6yH1GFsHO2DOkDu6RRknxp1Dk/s1600/CAM00248.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjzWuR03fd65ga2-p5OyLIFbiJ8u8dfwSGDLzbywsjW_pgo8794lgXWPfAoowGhBxSpRy0sWrJzHAcH__j1B3ia0irE-XXxr2R8-nZjBgcl_ApBVqpc5w6yH1GFsHO2DOkDu6RRknxp1Dk/s320/CAM00248.jpg" /></a></div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2380719344757929019.post-45608202091144887832014-05-14T00:15:00.000-07:002014-05-14T00:15:22.647-07:00Pier Fishing in Pacifica 05/01/14I decided to go to the pier today as it was a very warm day and it seemed like there would be little wind on the pier. I was also hoping that with salmon season open and Halibut season opening today that I would be able to pull a fish up onto the pier. Unfortunately I didn't get any fish, and neither did anyone else on the pier, not even surf perch. The crab fishing was very good though, I pulled up 30+ Dungeness crabs, no rock crabs, but only 4 of the Dungeness were keepers. I spoke with a photographer there you yesterday saw four grey whales and came back today hoping to see more, but all he saw today was some dolphins.
On My way to the Pier I also went to check out the new Dick's Sporting Goods store in Daly City. I must say I was very impressed with their selection of fishing supplies. I have put in a picture of their bait prices<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgj9i5IgkYs-w_0KdPfpD2iJ2aQY7Ta8AmU_-67aV0p_0KVGVcEQScMnpIfBC28DDcfEM9R4RioQqbArSEdaagKUTLU0ptcZTFhBiDDfe7AruvKynii4vsAW1E-3LU40ccPyivYmpxgMSU/s1600/CAM00230.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgj9i5IgkYs-w_0KdPfpD2iJ2aQY7Ta8AmU_-67aV0p_0KVGVcEQScMnpIfBC28DDcfEM9R4RioQqbArSEdaagKUTLU0ptcZTFhBiDDfe7AruvKynii4vsAW1E-3LU40ccPyivYmpxgMSU/s320/CAM00230.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiW_sY07LeyGBSDMQhASyhsasG3jLw2RJHqFYR9-ogTe9skWIeTmKb2zgJHuq95iKAeY8MFjO1NbgmGpbCXF3E8COS378hBAZHa9g6UbHvWtlhzZx62DSHGhmYNBbLqmhGAZHabPUVS2f0/s1600/CAM00231.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiW_sY07LeyGBSDMQhASyhsasG3jLw2RJHqFYR9-ogTe9skWIeTmKb2zgJHuq95iKAeY8MFjO1NbgmGpbCXF3E8COS378hBAZHa9g6UbHvWtlhzZx62DSHGhmYNBbLqmhGAZHabPUVS2f0/s320/CAM00231.jpg" /></a></div>

Getting there is a bit tricky especially if you drive up there in the dark. There is a nice little campground near the lake with a bathroom, but you must bring your own drinking water. There is a campgrouind/RV park closer to the reseviour where you must pay to overnight there. if you want to do any fishing there you must also pay a day use fee, but on the other side you can go fishing without having to pay. There are plenty of does around (it a buck only zone). There is a firestation nearby so you can have your deer tag validated there which is nice. In terms of wildlife there, I saw deer, quail, turkey, and I did find a pig carcass. On the back side there are bears as well. I will upload pictures soon as I am short on time at the moment.
To all of those who read these posts. I would highly encourage you to comment on your expiriences at any of these places if you have or do go visit them.

This is a nice man-made lake up in the hills of Cupertino. It is a nice place to go fishing for carp, rainbow trout, suckerfish, crappie, bass, bluegill, and catfish. This year, the water is the lowest it has ever been and I am concerned the whole thing may dry up before it rains. I usually use worms, which can be bought at the local liquor stores nearby. This time I caught a 3-4 carp, an 18 inch bass, and a 6 inch catfish and a small turtle. Usually I will only catch one or two species of fish here, but since the water is so low I believe they are all just hanging around each other. There is a nice picknic area half way around the lake where you don't need to pay for parking, while parking in the main lot is 5$. The park is open from 8am to sunset and the rangers do issue citations for those people who stay longer. They also stock the reservoir several times a year with rainbow trout. An important note for the fish here is that they are not edible. Their mercury level is too high. <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh0v9hBj47fkjmgKoVN09aVG4lv33szjGtbJa7I8IreLuQxM-C3LxMOMdHEIBOVToT3xEzl2XFYejMPf45o7RRvSoRBO0_YaAeoDiw_JwOtHBUEPX8qkbcbdjJSXgj4Vx1nW9YZozq91So/s1600/1378165309515%5B1%5D.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh0v9hBj47fkjmgKoVN09aVG4lv33szjGtbJa7I8IreLuQxM-C3LxMOMdHEIBOVToT3xEzl2XFYejMPf45o7RRvSoRBO0_YaAeoDiw_JwOtHBUEPX8qkbcbdjJSXgj4Vx1nW9YZozq91So/s320/1378165309515%5B1%5D.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh25E1lsIfDPIRcSExWCNz8iAmQoVG1orWYnF1DuCncHSqLndT8ULdi7WXgl7SNwF2nsa3Y_yJamv_gSx4C-fHeFdhOdr9_LuGWmieVzJJvgWkeTCOdu_bHVEUwgmsBVAH-zX3LYAUV18o/s1600/1378165939933%5B2%5D.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh25E1lsIfDPIRcSExWCNz8iAmQoVG1orWYnF1DuCncHSqLndT8ULdi7WXgl7SNwF2nsa3Y_yJamv_gSx4C-fHeFdhOdr9_LuGWmieVzJJvgWkeTCOdu_bHVEUwgmsBVAH-zX3LYAUV18o/s320/1378165939933%5B2%5D.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgd78xwdliXl8iOxtdJRsbIOVigS4Fm2j_ncDrAYyBIEC3Lookegd0WZoxEnymLQ1gj5eOj5jFpvpyUR5vNV_nANmDnfVWDp5_FvHRmvn6jk8yX0bRWBv6zYULCde9CN5AALv6kWv0fhJ8/s1600/1379028587432%5B1%5D.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgd78xwdliXl8iOxtdJRsbIOVigS4Fm2j_ncDrAYyBIEC3Lookegd0WZoxEnymLQ1gj5eOj5jFpvpyUR5vNV_nANmDnfVWDp5_FvHRmvn6jk8yX0bRWBv6zYULCde9CN5AALv6kWv0fhJ8/s320/1379028587432%5B1%5D.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhaQ1xgfJw9xGlga3TTuGr7KVlA2F1h0qeoFovJkBHQ6ildl8Hgjf50hMHtBjvT63MzblejDWQK9fOwRmTjaTt7BaTeEfearjLv9ZCtLrgl5eNza24f6IgUp5FYLlCo4vMzBxPwrEX6G4A/s1600/1378775151204%5B1%5D.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhaQ1xgfJw9xGlga3TTuGr7KVlA2F1h0qeoFovJkBHQ6ildl8Hgjf50hMHtBjvT63MzblejDWQK9fOwRmTjaTt7BaTeEfearjLv9ZCtLrgl5eNza24f6IgUp5FYLlCo4vMzBxPwrEX6G4A/s320/1378775151204%5B1%5D.jpg" /></a></div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0
